The Five Dimensions
Your AI CRED score is calculated from five core competency dimensions, each weighted according to its importance for effective AI fluency.
How Weights Affect Your Score
Your overall score is a weighted average of your performance across all five dimensions. This means improving in higher-weighted dimensions has a larger impact on your total score.
Example: If you score 8.0 in Prompt Mastery but 5.0 in Workflow Design, your Prompt Mastery score contributes 4x more to your overall score than Workflow Design.
Prompt Mastery
Your ability to craft effective prompts that elicit accurate, useful, and relevant responses from AI systems.
What We Assess:
- -Quality and clarity of prompt construction
- -Use of context, constraints, and formatting
- -Iterative refinement techniques
- -Understanding of prompt patterns and frameworks
- -Ability to adapt prompts for different AI models
Why It Matters:
Prompt engineering is the primary interface between humans and AI. Mastering this skill has the highest leverage on your ability to extract value from AI tools.
Practical Application
How effectively you apply AI tools to real-world tasks and integrate them into your professional work.
What We Assess:
- -Real-world use cases and examples
- -Problem-solving with AI assistance
- -Task selection and AI appropriateness judgment
- -Integration of AI into existing workflows
- -Productivity gains from AI usage
Why It Matters:
Theoretical knowledge is valuable, but practical application determines real-world impact. This dimension measures your ability to translate AI capabilities into tangible results.
Technical Understanding
Your comprehension of how AI systems work, including their capabilities, architecture, and underlying principles.
What We Assess:
- -Understanding of AI model capabilities and limitations
- -Knowledge of different AI model types
- -Awareness of context windows and token limits
- -Understanding of training data and biases
- -Grasp of AI safety and alignment concepts
Why It Matters:
Technical understanding enables better decision-making about when and how to use AI. It helps you anticipate limitations and troubleshoot when things don't work as expected.
Critical Evaluation
Your ability to assess AI outputs for accuracy, bias, relevance, and appropriateness.
What We Assess:
- -Fact-checking and verification practices
- -Recognition of AI hallucinations
- -Bias detection and mitigation
- -Quality assessment of AI-generated content
- -Understanding when to trust or question AI
Why It Matters:
AI systems can produce confident but incorrect outputs. Critical evaluation protects you from errors and ensures the AI outputs you use meet quality standards.
Workflow Design
How well you design and optimize workflows that incorporate AI at strategic points.
What We Assess:
- -Process design incorporating AI tools
- -Automation and efficiency optimization
- -Human-AI collaboration patterns
- -Scalability of AI-augmented processes
- -Strategic placement of AI in workflows
Why It Matters:
Individual prompts matter, but workflow design determines systemic productivity gains. This dimension measures your ability to think strategically about AI integration.
Targeting Specific Dimensions
After each assessment, you receive a breakdown of your scores across all five dimensions. This allows you to identify your strengths and target specific areas for improvement.
High-Impact Strategy
Focus on improving Prompt Mastery (40% weight) for the largest impact on your overall score. Even small improvements here can significantly boost your total.
Balanced Approach
Target your lowest-scoring dimensions for quick gains. It's often easier to improve from 4.0 to 6.0 than from 8.0 to 9.0.
