Progress Checks
Diagnostic assessments that guide your learning journey.
What Are Progress Checks?
Progress Checks are short diagnostic assessments you take after completing each learning module. They help measure how well you've absorbed the material and identify any concepts that might need more attention.
Think of them as checkpoints on your learning journey - not gates you must pass, but guideposts that show you where you stand.
A typical Progress Check includes:
- 5-10 questions related to the module content
- Mix of conceptual and practical application questions
- AI-graded responses with detailed feedback
- Approximately 5-10 minutes to complete
Diagnostic, Not Pass/Fail
This is crucial to understand: Progress Checks have no passing score. They are purely diagnostic tools designed to give you and the learning system valuable information.
Why no pass/fail? Research shows that high-stakes testing can create anxiety that interferes with learning. By removing the pressure of passing, Progress Checks become safe opportunities to identify gaps and reinforce understanding - not stressful hurdles.
Your Progress Check results do influence future content - if you struggle with certain concepts, later modules may include additional reinforcement. But your results never prevent you from continuing forward.
Understanding Levels
Instead of letter grades or percentages, Progress Checks categorize your understanding into three clear levels for each concept tested:
Strong
You demonstrate solid understanding and can apply the concept effectively. Ready to build on this foundation.
Partial
You grasp the basics but have some gaps. Future modules will help reinforce these areas.
Needs Work
This concept needs more attention. Consider reviewing the module or practicing with exercises.
These levels give you actionable insight without the stress of numerical scores.
Always Allows Progression
After completing a Progress Check, you always move forward to the next module. Here's what happens regardless of your results:
- The next module in your Learning Plan unlocks immediately
- You receive detailed feedback on each question
- The learning system adapts future content based on your results
- Your progress is tracked for your personal reference
Pro tip: Even if you score "Needs Work" on concepts, continuing forward is often the best approach. Later modules may present the same concepts in different contexts that help them click. You can always revisit earlier material if needed.
